Country Costs
Day to day living in Egypt is cheap and those prepared to stay in the cheapest of hotels and eat local
food can easily survive on a budget of £15 per day. If you want to travel in comfort and visit the
many tourist attractions the country has to offer then a budget at least double this is needed.
Visa Requirements
All visitors to Egypt require entry visas and a passport valid for at least six months. Whilst visas
can be obtained at major ports of entry, it is advisable for visitors to obtain visas from their local
Egyptian consulate prior to arrival in order to avoid possible refusal to the country or extensive delays.
On arrival in Egypt, passports are stamped with a 30-day visa. Visitors intending to stay longer than
this are responsible for renewing their visas regardless of any longer visas obtained prior to entry.
Health & Safety
There is a risk of malaria and Yellow Fever in Egypt and it is advisable that you are vaccinated
against these and carry full medical insurance. You are also advised to be vaccinated against Polio
and Typhoid prior to your arrival.
Egypt does not have a high rate of crime although in larger cities and tourist destinations there is
a risk of petty street crime. Egypt has experienced an increase of terrorist attacks in recent years
and visitors to the country should be aware of the risks involved.
