Taste of TEFL
The TEFL International Taste of TEFL is a great introduction to English Language Teaching and ideal if you are unsure about committing
to a full TEFL course. Covering twice the hours and twice the content of shorter weekend courses, the Taste of TEFL will introduce
you to the world of teaching English and provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to teach your first lesson.

Your course includes 40 hours of training with one of our teacher trainers where you will be introduced to the concepts and context of teaching English.
During this time you will learn about:
- Foreign Language Acquisition
- Classroom Management Skills
- Materials Development
- Lesson Planning & Preparation
- Vocabulary Expansion
- Communicative Activities
- Theatre Techniques
- Peer & Observed Teaching Skills
During the course you will be guided through the process of planning, preparation, delivery and reflection of a lesson and be given feedback
on your performance at each stage.
Course Materials
Throughout your course you will be given materials and resources that will provide the basis of your input sessions as well as supporting you in your
individual studies. Key resources will include the following:
- Practical Teaching Skills & Concepts
- Language Awareness & Grammar
- Phonetics
- Classroom Management
The Taste of TEFL programme covers the same course content as the first 40 hours of the PELT Cert. TESOL. This means that once you have completed
the Taste of TEFL you can extend your studies to the full PELT Certificate TESOL if you decide that English teaching is for you.
All you have to do to earn the full PELT Cert. TESOL is complete 40 hours of the teaching practice and complete the required assignments.
Once you have done this you will have the qualification and experience needed to get your first teaching job.

- The Practice of English Language Teaching, J. Harmer, Longman
- English Grammar in Use, R. Murphy, CUP
These books will provide an introduction to English Language Teaching and English Grammar. Both are easily available from major bookshops
or Amazon.co.uk and will prove to be invaluable resources during your course and throughout your teaching career.
Entry Requirements
You must be:
- A native or fluent speaker of English
- 19 - 65 years old
- Capable of degree level education
- Flexible with a good sense of humour and a willingness to teach
- Dedicated and reliable
